“I don’t want to be famous”
Watching a Super Soul Sunday chat between Oprah (Oprah!) and Rainn Wilson — one of the creators behind SoulPancake.com, and oh, the one you can’t take your eyes off of on The Office — the conversation for a moment centered on fame.
Specifically Oprah and Rainn were talking about a study showing the number one thing young people wanted to be when they grew up was famous. They didn’t know what they wanted to be famous for, they simply wanted to be famous above all.
Our son, who was noodling away on some play project on the coffee table, piped up:
“I don’t want to be famous. I just want to know I’m capable of making the thing I want to make.”
There you have it, from a ten-year old, the essence of well-being decoded.
