Tonglen: For a friend
I called a friend about a friend, to express concern for this mutual buddy.
And he brought me back to the truth.
He spoke about Tonglen, a Tibetan meditation where you inhale the suffering of the world . . . and exhale sublime goodness to all.
He reminded me that we can do this for our friend as well.
Inhale the situation, exhale a belief in his natural wholeness.
We can inhale distress, exhale contentment.
When you replace concern (for another) with confidence (that they’ll find a solution), you both are empowered. You become part of the resolution.
In the invisible realm you’re altering patterns that have become locked in place, yours included. In the visible realm you may even become a catalyst for the solution . . .
