You sent me the nicest rejection letter I have ever gotten.

Just the other day I received this email back from an artist we had to turn down for representation.

You sent me the nicest rejection letter I have ever gotten.

Thank you!

You don’t have to be cruel when it’s not the right fit. You can empower when you say no.

How do you say no when someone seeks something from you?

Thoughtfully.

Encouragingly.

It can be done briefly, too. I have to say no all the time to wonderful people and proposals simply because of the constraints of the gallery’s mission and space.

There’s no need to be abrupt or dismissive. Spread the deliciousness around.
