“You’re my hero today!” I yelled

Here’s how it went down.

Some guy had stopped his work vehicle on a narrow two-lane road. A few cars backed up behind it while a few others inched around. I followed the slow-moving stream around the truck parked in the road
 and saw this:

The guy was just finishing walking a large land turtle across the road, placing it down safely on the other side, well away from the road, at the intersection of brush and grass.

“You’re my hero today!” I yelled as he came back to the road. He smiled sheepishly, floating his hands palm up in front of him, as if to say, I had to do what I could.

Now that I’m looking for them, I’m finding heroes often.
